In an Eagle Court of Honor on April 2, 2011 Zach Doty received his Eagle rank from Adrian Troop 238. The rank of Eagle is the highest rank a Boy Scout can earn and must have all the requirements completed before their 18th birthday. While most boys start their scouting career in the 5th grade around age 12, Zach began at age 16 and has made record time earning his Eagle rank in one year and 11 months. Less than 4% of all boys who begin scouting earn their Eagle rank.

Zach celebrated receiving his Eagle rank with 100 of his family and friends. Zach earned 26 merit badges: First Aid, Communication, Environmental Science, Swimming, Citizenship in the Community, Cit In Nation, Cit In World, Personal Mgmt, Camping, Personal Fitness, Pets, Art, Leatherwork, Wood Carving, Horsemanship, Bird Study, Fish and Wildlife, Geology, Mammal Study, Family Life, Sculpture and Wilderness Survival.

One of the community service projects required to earn the Eagle rank is the Eagle Project. This project must help/improve the community and be approved by the district council. Zach was approved to install a new 6-seat swing set at the Ballard R-2 School. Adult Leaders Gerald Shaffer and Doug Wood along with many scouts and volunteers helped make the project successful. Truly a project that will last for many generations to come.
