Yoss Thriftway teams up with the community to provide books for kids
Yoss Thriftway believes in the ongoing need for early reading and early learning for Adrian’s youngsters. A $1,000 donation from General Mills, which was won in a contest by Yoss Thriftway, was donated to the Parents as Teachers Program (PAT) last month. But Yoss Thriftway did not stop at just that donation. Book card cut-outs were sold to customers in the amount of $1.00 or $5.00 each. With a strong show of support for the Parents as Teachers Program, the book drive brought in $1,154.00 and two boxes of books! These donations came from more than 500 local residents, as well as generous people outside of the Adrian area.
Parents as Teachers is an educational program for families in the Adrian School District that offers information, support and encouragement throughout pregnancy to age five. The donated funds will be used to purchase an age-appropriate books for children enrolled in the PAT program.
