A visit from Santa kicks off the Christmas season in Adrian

For the 25th year, the WMAT&MA tradition continued last weekend with the ever-popular “Hot Chocolate Night” at Frontier Village. A record number of families enjoyed delicious hot chocolate and cookies. More than 500 kids took train, tram and buggy rides. And best of all, kids told Santa Claus all of their Christmas wishes.
On his way to Frontier Village, Santa waved at the large crowd gathered on Main Street for the first Christmas parade in Adrian history orchestrated by the Adrian Chamber of Commerce. Twenty-five organizations and clubs participated in the parade. Chamber President Lori Haskins said, “We didn’t know what to expect for the first time, and we are so impressed with the entries. I hope the parade is something we can continue.”
Parade committee Co-Chairs Lori Haskins and Linda Oldfield thought all entries were winners and appreciate all of the time and hard work organizations put into the parade. The judges determined three winning entries, who will receive $100.00 in Adrian Chamber Bucks.
Many people joined together to kick off the Christmas season. “I thought the parade was just what everyone needed to get into the spirit of things. Thanks to everyone that helped put this on - great job!” said Karen Clark. Lori Haskins expressed gratitude as well. “The Chamber board worked hard to make this parade possible. Jerry Ferguson and Bryan Reynolds shared their expertise and gave a lot of their time to help. Elbert Scrogham was a terrific announcer, using a sound system provided by Don Arndt.”
