VFW Honors Local Teachers

Each year teachers are selected for this award from area schools. VFW Post 1935 in Adrian recently selected winners from Adrian and Ballard schools. Winning nominees are chosen for their innovative teaching and his or her dedication to education. Teachers who promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism are prime candidates for this award. This year’s VFW Post 1935 winners will go on to be judged at the District level then those winners will go on to State level. National winners will receive cash prizes for the schools represented and for the teachers of $1000.00 each plus other incentives such as trips and plaques.

This year’s winners are Julie Carr (right) from Adrian School and Jim Kershner (far right) from the Ballard School. VFW Post 1935 congratulates these fine educators for job well done. Julie Carr teaches Jr. High and High School Family and Consumer Sciences and Jim Kershner teaches 8th through 12th grades English.
