Time to do laundry again?
By JOYCE WALSH
Time to do laundry again??? Try using this early 1900’s washing machine. This particular washing machine was made by the Michigan Washing Machine Company. This machine consists of a large wooden tub with a rotor mechanism inside, and is operated by pumping a hand lever on top.
My grandparents, Robert and Lula Greenwood, purchased this machine in the 1920’s and used it for many years, they then moved up to a MODERN washing machine powered by a Maytag motor. The Greenwood family loaned this washing machine for display at the museum at the WMAT&MA Frontier Village, Adrian, MO.
Come join us this spring to take a tour of the Museum at Frontier Village, you will see this washing machine and many more wonderful items from the past.
