Steering committee formed to solve Adrian Manor crisis

Several employees of Adrian Manor and others held a march from the nursing home to City Hall prior to the city council's meeting Thursday night. In an effort to get things back on track at the Adrian Manor, an organizational meeting was held Thursday, November 16, 2006 at the facility. Scores of people were in the lobby while the meeting was held in the Community Room.A Steering Committee, consisting of ten area residents, has been formed and will look into options regarding the Adrian Manor. Some of those options include such recommendations as: the City retains ownership and appoints an independent Board of Directors to oversee operations. Or, the City transfers ownership by selling or leasing the facility to profit or non-profit organizations with proceeds coming back to the city/facility. Or, the City establishes a not for profit corporation with an independent Board of Directors. These are just some of the options the Steering Committee will be considering before making a final decision to present to the City Council in upcoming weeks.
