Sheriff discovers meth lab

On November 25, 2007 at approximately 12:35 a.m., the Butler Police Department along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Bates County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant at 400 E Fort Scott in Butler, Missouri. The search warrant was obtained after a three month investigation by the Butler Police Department for narcotics violations.

Upon entry in the residence, officers initially encountered two adults and four juveniles. When officers entered the basement, they encountered another male who was attempting to destroy an active methamphetamine lab. Officers took him into custody and immediately evacuated the residence.

Six officers were exposed to hazardous chemicals, with four officers being transported to the hospital for medical treatment. At press time, one officer remains in the CCU unit.

Four children were removed from the residence and transported to the hospital. All four children were released.

Lyle S. Jennings, his wife, Justina K. Jennings and Jared E. Webb are being held on $100,000 cash bond in connection with the discovered meth lab.

Charges on these subjects are pending with prosecution and warrants expected to be signed by a judge. They are all innocent until proven guilty before a court of law.
