Rural Adrian man charged with Possession of Child Pornography

In October of 2013, The Bates County Sheriff’s Office received information of a subject in rural Adrian being in possession of Child Pornography. The case was immediately assigned to the Detectives for investigation. On 2/3/14, members of the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and the Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Taskforce executed a search warrant at RR2 Box 474 Adrian, Missouri. During the search of the residence a laptop computer, desktop computer and two cell phones were confiscated. Those items will be sent to the HARCFL for additional examination.

Nicholas T. Batterton, 4/22/90, was taken into custody at the residence and transported to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office. Batterton was charged with a Class B Felony of Possession of Child Pornography and bond $50,000.00 cash or surety. The case is still under investigation and more charges could be handed down when the evidence returns from the Computer Laboratory.
