Remembering Mr. Adrian

The passing of a highly respected, prominent Adrianite brought a great sadness to the Adrian community last week. James Gaylord “Pete” Hill will long be remembered as “Mr. Adrian,” a title well-earned in the eight decades (and a few years) of his life in Adrian.
In 2004, Mayor Rose Marie Randolph issued a proclamation that August 1 be deemed as “Pete Hill Day”, and the first Sunday of August in years to follow. Pete was also awarded a Lifetime Membership to the Adrian Chamber of Commerce in celebration of his lifelong civic commitment to the community of Adrian.
It goes without saying that Gaylord “Pete” Hill’s dedication to Adrian and its citizens was selfless and honorable. While Pete’s passing has saddened us all, the impact of his legacy will continue to provide a ray of light for a better tomorrow.
