Pre-construction Vision 2007 meeting
A pre-construction meeting for Adrian’s Vision 2007 Project was held on Wednesday, May 30 at 10 a.m. Representatives from MoDOT, Hilty Quarries, Olsson Associates, James Drew Corporation, Missouri and Northern Arkansas Railroad, Kaysinger Basin RPC, Vision 2007 and the Adrian City Council were present. Cindy Kendrick, Adrian’s Mayor, and Leonard Harrison, City Administrator, were also present.
The meeting was facilitated by Teri Smith of MoDOT. Shawn Hilty of Hilty Quarries, project manager, began by listing the subcontractors that will be involved in the various aspects of the Vision 2007 improvements. Approved subcontracts are with Whitehead Consultants, Inc., JLA Construction, James Drew Corporation, ATK Safety Supply, Inc., Collins and Hermann, Inc. and Tri State Traffic Control.
Hilty then stated that he would leave Hwy 18 (Main Street) open until closing it becomes absolutely necessary. “We’ll keep it open as long as we can, as long as it is safe,” Hilty said.
The City of Adrian’s contract with Hilty Quarries states that Route 18 cannot be closed for more than 90 days. According to the terms of the contract, If the road is closed for more than 90 days, Hilty Quarries will be charged $4200 per day.
