Police recover two million dollars worth of drugs
Adrian Police officers and Bates County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a huge amount of marijuana during a drug bust that took place during the early morning hours of Saturday, December 8.
Around 1 a.m., an eastbound tractor-trailer unit was stopped at Highway 18/Main Street and Cemetery Road after being observed committing a traffic violation near Highways 18 and FF. When questioned, the Hispanic male driver’s reason for being in the area was questioned. Two additional vehicles, a box truck and a car, were also stopped in connection with the truck stop.
A K-9 Unit was called to the scene and the dog hit on the trailer’s flooring. The flooring was removed and 2,104 pounds of marijuana bricks were found, along with a large amount of cash. The drugs have an estimated value of at least two million dollars.
