Adrian Police made two arrests in separate incidents and assisted another agency in making a third arrest this past week. Officers also investigated two thefts, one at a local business and one at the Adrian school.

Late Monday afternoon, June 11, Adrian Police office Hershel Cole informed the Adrian Journal that the police had conducted a consensual search at a residence on Sixth Street in reference to the Sunday evening break-in and theft at the Adrian School. All seven of the school’s laptop computers and a hand-held megaphone were recovered at that residence. One computer was heavily damaged, possibly due to being dropped.

A subsequent search at another residence on Third Street led to the recovery of an electric amplifier. A saxophone was also recovered. Five juvenile males, in ages ranging from 13 to 16, have been charged with the burglary and theft. According to Chief Chapman, the juveniles used professional lock pick kits and stole approximately $6,000 worth of merchandise.

The case was solved by Juvenile Officer Anthony Evans, Chief Chapman, and Officers Pope, Wright and Cole. The Adrian Police Department also thanks the Bates County Sheriff’s Department for their help in the investigation.
