Officers respond to disturbance, theft, and hit and run accident

Adrian police assisted other agencies this past week as well as investigated an alleged assault involving adults and an alleged child neglect situation. Officers also responded to a disturbance, theft, an alleged theft, and a hit and run motor vehicle accident, according to this week’s list of incident reports. Chief Charles Chapman issued statements regarding parking at the school, children walking home from school and, barking dogs.
Tuesday, September 23, Officer Don Sellers was asked to check the well being of a person who had not returned home from the First Baptist Church. That person was located and was fine.
The same day, Officer Sellers investigated the theft and possession of city street and state signs in the area of Fifth and Mulberry. A report was taken and the property recovered. Prosecution is pending.
The same day, Officer Sellers responded to a report of a loud motor vehicle engine on Fifth Street, where a person was revving up the motor without a muffler. The subject was warned about not revving up the motor in the late evening.
The same day, Officer Sellers and Bates County Deputy, Shon Nelson, assisted the Bates County Sheriff’s Office at a location three miles west of the Adrian City limits where an arrest warrant was served. The suspect was located and transported to the Bates County Jail by Officer Sellers. The suspect bonded out and was given a new court date.
Also on September 23, Officer Sellers assisted Bates County Deputies Shon Nelson and Vic Selle, on Pawnee Drive, where they took two suspects into custody, in reference to the theft of a box truck from the east coast area. The two suspects were placed on a 24 hour hold and the truck was impounded.
