The Christmas season is always a time of giving and getting, attending fun events and enjoying that holiday cheer that not only closes out the old year but rings in a fresh new year full of hope and expectations. During the time between counting our blessings at Thanksgiving and the close of another year, people give generously of themselves, their time, talent and funds to help others, often with no thought of receiving anything in return.
This year, there is a way to give and to get, all for a good cause. On New Year’s Eve, a Dinner and Dance Benefit will be held at the Adrian Optimist Building to help defray expenses incurred with medical treatments for Adrian area residents Ronnie Hough and Dee Hockett. Ronnie is battling cancer and Dee is recovering from complications following a stroke.
Proceeds from the evening will help Ronnie and Dee, while at the same time giving back to the attendees with a great dinner provided by Ritchie Davis, an evening of dancing with music provided by a new DJ service, “A Chord of Three.” Other events throughout the night include drinks and snacks, a dance contest, Karaoke and a Karaoke contest (bring your own CD). There will be prizes and a raffle for a quilt made by Betty Smith of Adrian. There will also be a Texas Hold’em Tournament. ($10 fee for this event). At midnight, there will be a balloon drop to welcome in the new year.
For information on ticket purchases, child ticket prices and attendance, or information about any of the evening’s events, contact Dianne Patterson at 816-619-2909 or 816-769-4940 (cell).
