Mouse races, casino games on April 18...a benefit for the Children's Center

The 2nd Annual Casino Night, to benefit the Bates County Children’s Center, will be held on Saturday, April 18 at the Optimist Community Building in Adrian. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. for social time; gaming begins at 7:30 p.m. and will end at 10 p.m. Live mouse races will be held throughout the night. The event will have blackjack tables, craps tables, roulette tables and Texas Hold ‘Em tables.
The Children’s Center will provide a child-friendly, safe setting in which law enforcement and Children’s Division personnel can conduct investigations of alleged child abuse. These teams include specially trained law enforcement and Division of Family Services personnel, prosecutors, juvenile officers, medical professionals, mental health professionals and Children’s Center staff. These professionals meet child victims and their families at the Children’s Center and, by coming together as a team, reduce the number of interviews child victims must go through. The Children’s Center staff also offers advocacy, referrals and prevention education. The Center is being built on the southeast corner of Thompson and Howard Streets in Butler.
Tickets for the Casino Night event are $25; this price includes food and beverages and play casino money. Additional play money can be purchased at the event. Play money that is won can be used for silent auction prizes, which will be given away at the end of the evening. A live cash auction will follow the silent auction, with items up for bid including a trip to Branson, a 1995 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible (pictured right), 1995 Suzuki mini truck (pictured far right), load of gravel (delivered), autographed sports memorabilia, plus many more.
