Memorial Day Service held at Crescent Hill

Memorial Day Services were held at Crescent Hill Cemetery on Saturday, May 26 at 10 a.m. Representatives from VFW Post 1935 and others were present for the service, which honored fallen U.S. veterans. The service was opened in prayer by Pastor Paul Burhart of Adrian Christian Church. Don Arndt, VFW Service Officer, welcomed the group and invited all the veterans to lay wreaths on the war memorial monument. Dawn Burhart sang the National Anthem and members of the VFW raised the American and MIA flags. Earl Muiller led the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Moles, VFW Post Adjutant, read "They Shall Not Grow Old" by Laurence Binyon. Lyle Seelinger, Past District Commander, was the guest speaker. Bill Thurman then sang "God Bless America" and "Taps" was played by Adrian High School students Ashley Najera and Kaitlin Hendrick. Closing remarks were made by Don Durbin, VFW Commander.This was the final memorial service to be held at Crescent Hill Cemetery. Next year's service will be held at the new war memorial, which is being built at the Adrian City Park, located outside of Adrian on Highway 18.
