Memorial ceremony to be held in remembrance of September 11, 2001
So no one forgets the great loss of life and the sacrifices made by emergency personnel, the Adrian Fire Department is once again hosting a special memorial procession and ceremony to remember those, civilians, fire fighters, police and other emergency service members who were murdered by terrorists on September 11, 2001. The Adrian memorial procession will be held the evening of Thursday September 11, 2008. The memorial service also recognizes those who work so selflessly, to protect America’s precious freedom today; the members of the United States Military Services.
“We want people to understand that we do the processional and the memorial service to remember and to pay our respects to all branches of emergency services and the military. We take this time to remember all those who gave and who give so much, while doing their jobs,” said Adrian Fire Chief, Gary Dizney. “The processional also allows everyone to see a small part of the types of equipment used in emergency events.”
The processional begins at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, September 11 at Adrian Manor Health and Rehabilitation. The procession of fire trucks, police cars, ambulances and some military vehicles and other emergency-type vehicles will make their way down Main Street to Business 71 Highway, then south to the new Optimist Building. As the processional makes its way through Adrian, the LifeFlight and LifeNet air ambulances will fly overhead and eventually land on the Optimist Building grounds.
