Martial arts academy opens on Main Street
“This is a family-oriented, sports school with basic self-defense training. We want this to be fun and affordable for the whole family,” said David Kreitler, owner of Adrian’s newest business on Main Street.
The American Academy of Martial Arts is located at 40 East Main, about mid-block on the north side, between the railroad tracks and Virginia Street. It is easy to spot, just look for the trophies in the front windows.
The family-owned and operated martial arts school will be offering a variety of classes for men, women and children, all taught by Mike, his wife, Christine and their oldest son, Cody. Their youngest son, Casey is also very active in the sport. The classes include American freestyle martial arts, Hapkido style karate, women’s aerobics and kickboxing, peewee martial arts and a child safe program, which teaches children how to get out of threatening situations through verbal karate and self-defense moves.
Classes begin at five, six and seven p.m., depending on the class, each evening, Monday through Friday and ten to noon on Saturday. The business opened officially on Monday, December 3.
