Main Street Fair, October 13

The renovations in the two block business area on Adrian’s Main Street are nearing completion and plans are also nearly finished for a Street Fair to celebrate the re-opening of Main Street.

The Fair is to take place on Saturday, October 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will feature guest speakers, musical entertainment, book signings from local authors, an inflatable ride or two and many booths sponsored by businesses, school organizations, churches and civic groups. Contact the Adrian Chamber of Commerce at 297-0004 for more information in obtaining a booth.

Among the guest speakers will be the key note speaker, Missouri State Representative for District 125 Barney Fisher. Other speakers include five individuals who were directly connected to the Vision 2007 project through grants, designs and other needs. They are: Mark Granthan, Innovative Designs; Molly McGiver, grant writer from the Mid-America Regional Development Block Grant; Bud Hayes, Kaysinger group; and Dan Salisbury, MoDOT.

Construction on Main Street will continue through the first week in October. After the street paving is completed, light poles, which were delivered Monday, September 17, will be set and planters, benches and bike racks will be placed. Some of these items are yet to be ordered and may not be set until around November 1 of this year.

All plans are tentatively scheduled and will be finalized after the Vision 2007 committee meets on September 27. Watch for more information regarding the Vision 2007 Street Fair, as information becomes available.
