A longtime Adrian tradition returns...

Blackhawk Corner re-opens under new ownership

“All our meals are handmade, fresh and nothing frozen. Everything is made to order,” said Joe Patterson. “We offer homestyle cooking by Dianne and Nan Richmond. And, we plan to offer homemade cobblers and pies, too.”
Joe and Dianne Patterson are the new owners of the Blackhawk Corner Restaurant. The business was originally established in 1954 and has long been an Adrian landmark. This past June, the Patterson’s purchased it. They have been busy remodeling and adding onto the restaurant. They opened the outside order window/grill area on September 5. The inside dining area, which has doubled in capacity from seating 32 to now seating 64, opened October 23.
The décor is a rustic, old time log setting with cedar log posts and exposed beams and old time decorations. Also featured, over a south window, is the 25-point, antlered deer head trophy belonging to son Daniel. It was the first deer he got at age eight. Along side it is a picture that had appeared in the paper at the time. The restaurant is a smoke-free establishment. “We got into the business because it is something Dianne wanted to do, to restore Blackhawk Corner,” Joe said. “
Blackhawk Corner is currently open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter. “We offer good food at moderate prices,” Joe added. “And, we welcome phone orders for anyone wanting to get food to take home with them.”
Blackhawk Corner is a member of the Adrian Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call the restaurant at 816-297-4141.
