Adrian Volunteer Firefighters have been training with the LifeFlight Eagle air ambulance crew to better work in unison for area patients. The fire crew has been learning how to properly load patients into the flying ambulance, how to maintain safety around the helicopter and many other areas in which the two departments can work together. They have been taking the training at the LifeFlight Eagle site at the Harrisonville Airport.
“We’re trying to keep our skills set on how to best assist the helicopter crew with emergency calls and how to conduct emergency procedures if there would be an accident involving the helicopter,” said Adrian Fire Chief Gary Dizney. “We want to develop a good working relationship with them just as we have with the Bates County ambulance and hospital, and with the other mutual aid departments with which we work, to provide the best service as we possibly can.”
