Lady Justice Stands Guard

“This is kind of the final step to the remodeling of the Courthouse tower,” said Bates County Northern Commissioner, Randy Pike.Installation of the two re-cast Lady Justice statues on top of the Courthouse took place on Thursday, January 8 by the Prestige Crane Co. in Blue Springs, MO.
The fiberglass Lady Justice figures were molded from the original metal statues that once adorned the Courthouse in its early years. The originals were removed after lightning damaged them. The surviving Lady Justices were stored in the old Bates County Museum for a number of years. Two years ago, the fiberglass statues were purchased and stored until the Courthouse renovations were completed.
Once again the Lady Justice figures adorn the Bates County Courthouse and like their predecessors, stand guard over the rights of Bates County Citizenry.
