Gov. Matt Blunt announced last week that Bates County has been awarded a $7,350 grant to help preserve the Bates County Courthouse. The grant is part of the Missouri Heritage Properties Program, which helps preserve our state’s historic publicly owned buildings.

“The Bates County Courthouse is an important part of Butler’s history and a key part of the community’s downtown area,” Gov. Blunt said. “This award will assist the Butler community as they preserve this important historic resource and will provide an innovative opportunity to use historic preservation funds to generate economic growth and investment in Missouri downtowns.”

Governor Blunt presented a check to Bates County Commissioners on Thursday, May 29 at the Courthouse.
