Donate blood on January 5
By ANNA LEE JAMES
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Adrian Tuesday, January 5 from 1 pm. -6 p.m. at the Adrian Optimist Building. Cantatas and carols have been sung. The New Year’s bells are ringing. New resolutions are being made, so on with 2010! A new beginning? A new start? A new commitment? What about starting the new year off by regular donations of blood. The Need Is Constant.
To give blood you must be healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years of age. Sixteen year olds may donate with a completed parental or legal guardian consent form. Basic guidelines are: Show a photo ID, read materials and answer a list of health history questions. A Red Cross staff member will cleanse your arm and prepare you for the donation process. Most donations take about six to 10 minutes. Any time you would like to donate and have questions about donating, a staff member from Red Cross is always available to talk with you, so don’t be afraid to ask questions. The volunteer staff are a great group and are always happy to make everyone feel welcome and at ease.
See you January 5, 2010. Happy New Year.
