Department investigates several holiday incidents

Major Doug Mullenix of the Bates County Sheriff's Department relates officers have investigated several incidents over the holiday weekend. Senior deputy Chuck Steele was dispatched to a rural Butler address on June 30 in response to a domestic dispute. According to reports, a 17 year old male was taken into custody after allegedly hitting a member of his family and damaging several items at his former home. The young man was charged with felony property damage and is currently being held at the Bates County Detention Center in lieu of $20,000.00 bond.A pick up allegedly stolen from G.R.Milner Ford in Harrisonville was recovered June 30 near Passaic. Senior deputy Chuck Steele says the investigation is continuing and no arrests have been made. The vehicle was discovered on private property and there was no reported damage to the vehicle.
