Community building almost complete, needs donations

The Adrian Optimist Club Community Building is in its last stages of construction. Interior work such as trim, floor coverings and light fixtures are all that remain before the building is completed, according to Kip Yoss, Optimist member.
The Community Building has been built primarily on donations; the Optimists have raised over $400,000 toward the project to date. Another $200,000 is needed to complete the project, and any donations will decrease the amount the Optimist Club must borrow.
The group continues to collect money through its “Donate a Brick” program, where donors can give $100 toward the project and have their name, the name of a loved one or a personal message placed on a brick in the sidewalk at the building’s entrance. Those wanting their bricks placed before the Open House in October need to have their forms filled out and money turned in by August 25. Forms and donations will be collected at the Adrian Bank and at Yoss Thriftway, or contact Kip Yoss, 816-297-4120, Steven Ritter, 816-380-5158, or Cary Six, 816-293-5837, for more details. A “Donate a Brick” form can be found on page 12 of this week’s Adrian Journal.
