Commissioners set 2007 budget; sales tax on April ballot

"Things look good as we start a new year," said Bates County Presiding Commissioner Donna Gregory. "We had to do some cutting of requests for expected expenditures, but it all looks good."She said the various county offices turn in requests and expected expenditures for the year and of the four major offices and expenditures, only the Assessor's office saw no cuts in requests. The other three, General Revenue, Law Enforcement and County Bridges, had cuts. She added that the fund requests in Law Enforcement affected the Sheriff's Office but that the Sheriff was pleased with the County Commissioners' decision.Pictured: Commissioners Randy Pike, Donna Gregory and Bob Wingate explain 2007 budget.
