City's roots go deep

The city of Adrian will be 125 years old, on July 6, 2005. It's roots are deep and go back farther than 1880, farther back even than the Civil War.In 1839, a settlement, founded by the Joseph S. McCraw family began near the present site of Crescent Hill. The settlement, called Union Town, grew slowly with the first real house being built by Mr. McCraw in 1842. By 1856 more families had moved into the area and in 1858 the town site was surveyed.
