City approves purchase of fire truck
The Adrian City Council approved the purchase of a fire truck for the city at its regularly scheduled meeting August 11. The City Council also voted to restore the city taxi’s fare of 35 cents for a one-way trip.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Mayor Ray Cusumano called the meeting to order at 7:00. Council members present were Larry Ritter, Mike Lemon, Dennis Kooker, and Bruce Scarborough.
Fire Chief Gary Dizney presented to the City Council a proposal to purchase a new fire truck. Adrian was offered a steep discount on this particular truck because it was ordered by another municipality, but that transaction fell through. Included in the purchase price are ladders and other needed equipment. The fire truck has a 1,000 gallon water tank; this will allow our fire fighters to begin immediately to battle a blaze. The City Council approved the purchase of this fire truck for $175,000. Also approved was the expenditure of $2,000 to enlarge the fire station door.
