Children's Center benefits from Casino Night proceeds

When it comes to taking care of others, area citizens, businesses and social/civic organizations step up to the plate time and time again. Last Saturday, the Adrian Optimist Club hosted the 2nd Annual Casino Night, a fundraising event for the Children’s Center in Butler. Nearly 500 people joined in the festivities. Countless people donated their time, money and resources to help raise more than $26,000 for the Center.
The proceeds will pay for the remaining construction of the facility, and will allow the Children’s Center to keep its doors open during the summer. Debbie Powell, Children’s Center: “Thank you to the Adrian Optimist Club, Adrian and Appleton City sororities, Butthead BBQ, Diane Ferguson, and Heckadon Auction Services for volunteering their time and services. And thanks to all the businesses and individuals who sponsored mice races, tables, and donated items to the general store or live auction. Also, thank you to the men and women who volunteered as dealers for the event. Much thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket and attended the event. The success of this project has been made possible by the hard work of good people who believe in helping the children of our communities recover and heal from the effects of abuse. Because of their efforts, the next big event will be an open house!”
With the love and support of a generous community, children in Bates County will have a child-friendly, safe setting in which law enforcement and Children’s Division personnel can conduct investigations of alleged child abuse at the Children’s Center in Butler.
