Casino Night raises $23,000 for Center

Over $23,000 was raised to benefit the Bates County Children’s Center at the Casino Night on Saturday, May 3. Over 500 people attended the event, which was sponsored by the Adrian Optimists, Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the Children’s Center committee and held in the Adrian Optimist Community Building.
“The fund raiser was a huge success in every way possible,” said Debbie Powell, who serves on the Children’s Center committee. “There are no words to describe how grateful the members of the committee are to the Adrian Optimist Club, the Beta Sigma Phi sororities, [the business sponsors], all the volunteers, everyone who bought a ticket and anyone else who contributed. Adrian is not a large community in numbers, but it is a community with a large heart.”
Kip Yoss, Adrian Optimist member and an organizer of the event, echoed Powell’s sentiment. “We started out hoping to raise $10,000, and were very pleased with the final amount. The Optimists could not have done this without the help of the sororities and the Children’s Center committee. It was a three-part effort.”
