Capturing the Moment

By JESSICA HEIN
Nowadays, just about everyone has access to a camera. However, there’s a difference in taking snapshots and creating a photographic work of art. Several youth stepped up to the plate for the 2010 AjPHA Photo Contest and showcased some of their best photographs featuring beautiful American Paint Horses.
In the 13 & Under division, 8-year-old twins Clay and Clint Cumpton of Adrian, Missouri, took top honors - Clay won first and third, and Clint took second place. “At first I couldn’t believe it when my mom told me I won first and third places,” Clay said. “I think everyone in AjPHA should try sending in a photo. I am so happy I have my own camera now, and we used the prize money to buy Clint a camera too.”
Both Clay and Clint enjoy capturing special memories through photography. “I love to take a lot of pictures to see if I can get that really good shot,” Clint said. “My brothers and I have fun looking through all the pictures to find the best ones to hang on our walls.”
For winning their divisions, Clay took home a Kodak Easy Share digital camera. Second-place winners earned $75 cash, and the third place recipients each received $50 cash.
