A busy day in Adrian benefits many

The Adrian Chamber of Commerce sponsored the Annual Citywide Garage Sale again this year. More than 25 people signed up through the Chamber to participate. According to Chamber President Kip Yoss, the Chamber is always trying to bring people to town to help local businesses, and this citywide effort does just that. It also significantly benefits residents in Adrian. No doubt about it, last Saturday, June 4, was a busy day in Adrian.

Making the day that much more beneficial, several people around town raised money to provide aid for the victims of an F5 tornado that caused massive destruction in Joplin, MO just two weeks ago. People from Adrian and surrounding communities have been diligently working to collect donations or volunteering their time to help with search and rescue and clean-up. To do their part, Adrian youth Bailey McMillan and Payton Ritter came up with a way to help during the Citywide Garage Sale. Payton said, “We’ve done lemonade stands at previous (Citywide) garage sales and have always wanted to donate to a good cause. With all of the damage in Joplin, we found a cause. We just wanted to do everything we could to get Joplin back on their feet,” Bailey added, “There have been alot of other tornadoes lately, but we have been to Joplin and it meant more. We felt sorry for the people in Joplin, that’s why we decided to help them.”
