Brittany Clark travels to London

“We had to try out last summer at cheerleader camp at Northwest Missouri State. There were 40 girls trying out and it was very hard,” said Adrian Senior Brittany Clark. “Only 12 girls from the Missouri/Kansas area made it. Overall, there were 630 girls from all over the United States who participated.”
Brittany was the only girl from this area chosen to be part of the UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) All Stars Cheerleading Squad. She and the others in the Squad, traveled to London, England. They spent a week practicing for, then participating in, the New Year’s Day Parade. After many hours of practicing cheers and a dance routine, the All Stars marched the two-mile long parade route in London.
Brittany began cheerleading as a mini-cheerleader in grades kindergarten through sixth. She was a cheerleader in Junior High and has cheered all four years of high school. Brittany said there are small scholarships now available for those participating in the sport of cheerleading.
Brittany is pictured aboard one of the cars on the famous London Eye ferris wheel. Each car can take about 30 people, and each revolution of the car takes about 30-35 minutes to complete. In the background is Big Ben, London’s famous tower clock. The London Eye opened to the public in 2000 and for a short time was the largest ferris wheel, standing 440 feet high (the tallest now is the Singapore Flyer, which opened in March 2009 and stands at 541 feet tall). On a clear day, riders on the London Eye can see about 25 miles away.
