63rd Annual Adrian Alumni Meeting - By CAROL GREGG

The 63rd Annual Alumni Meeting was held Saturday, May 9, 2009 in the east gym at Adrian High School. President Paul Burhart, Class of 1977, called the meeting to order.
Ray Burhart, Class of 2002, opened with the invocation. The 2009 Senior Class led the alumni in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the alumni singing the National Anthem led by Steve Patterson, Class of 1984.
Mike Burris, Class of 1987, Chairman of the 2009 Alumni Golf Tournament, informed the alumni of the great day the teams spent at the Blackberry Trails Golf Course in Archie. He said that the tournament would bring it about $1,000 for the Alumni Association.
Next on the agenda was the Adrian alumni band and friends. They played a medley of songs from the graduating reunion years.
President Burhart then began the roll call of classes. Special recognitions were given for the class with the highest percentage present, the the oldest alumni present, the alumni traveling the furthest, the alumni couple married the longest, the alumni with the most alumni children present and the alumni teachers present who had taught the most years at Adrian R-III.
2009 Class Sponsor Duane Lentz introduced the 2009 graduating class to the Adrian alumni. A motion was made and seconded to accept the 2009 seniors to the Alumni Association. There was a random drawing held to give two $50.00 gifts to a girl and boy senior attending the meeting.
The memorial list was then read by Carol (Saubers) Gregg, Class of 1963.
The business meeting was opened by President Burhart. The new slate of officers was approved as follows: President, Matt Kendrick, Class of 1993; Vice President, Eve Clark, Class of 1996; Secretary/Treasurer, Carol (Saubers) Gregg, Class of 1963; Board Members, Gwen (Kretzschmar) Ford, Class of 1996, Mike Burris, Class of 1987, Hannah (Stephens) Newkirk, Class of 2002; Past President, Paul Burhart, Cass of 1977.
To close the meeting, President Burhart thanked everyone for coming and invited everyone to enjoy the hospitality room in the new cafeteria with music provided by Paul Moudy and his daughter LouAnne (Moudy) Crook.
The school song was sung by the entire alumni. Before closing the meeting, Ray Burhart gave the benediction and Steve Patterson followed by singing “God Bless The USA”.
The meeting was then adjourned.

“...Cheer, cheer, the gang’s all here for Adrian High!”
