Bates County deputies seize narcotics

On 4/16/14, the Bates County Sheriff’s Office made a vehicle stop on 52 Hwy and Rice Road. During the stop the passenger came back with warrants out of Jasper County Missouri. The driver then gave the Deputy consent to search the vehicle for narcotics.

As the Deputy opened the glove box he noticed plastic bags stuffed under the dash. The Deputy then pulled a bag out and observed it to contain a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana. He also observed additional bags. Both the driver and passenger were placed into custody and transported to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was taken to the Sheriff’s Office garage where multiple bags were recovered from under the dash of the car.

During the search approximately 40, 1 gram containers of marijuana wax bars were recovered, approximately 2 grams of liquid hash were recovered, approximately 184 grams of hydroponic marijuana were recovered, one marijuana chocolate caramel bite cookie was recovered and approximately $4300 in cash was recovered. Total seizure was worth approximately $15,000.00 street value.

The two men who were arrested were identified as Joseph Kelly Wells, and Zachary Brent Easson. Both have been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Bonds were set at $25,000.00 cash or surety.
