American Red Cross Bloodmobile comes to Adrian

By ANNA LEE JAMES

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be here on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 1-6 p.m. at the Adrian Optimist Building. Donors must be 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds and feeling well the day of donation. High school students and anyone 18 or younger must meet additional height and weight requirements. There is no upper age limit.

Life is precious and each moment is a gift. So start 2012 off by donating the gift of life to those in need. A single trauma patient may use many pints of blood. It takes 48 hours to test and process blood. In emergency situations, it’s the blood already donated that helps save lives. In the next minute, 30 units of blood will be transfused to patients who would not survive illness or injury without them. Time after time, with the previous gift of donated blood and platelets, you can help families, friends and neighbors fight serious diseases or recover from life-threatening accidents. About an hour of your day could easily mean a lifetime to a patient in need.

The need is constant, the gratification is instant. DONATE BLOOD on Tuesday, January 3, 1-6 p.m., Adrian Optimist Building.
