AHS Homecoming Preview
By SHELBY SHANNON
Adrian’s Homecoming is just around the corner! Students are busy designing floats for the parade, preparing outfits for dress up days, and ready to support the Blackhawks against the Indians!
Each class will be making a float for the Homecoming parade. A portion of the float will be made of nonperishable items that will be donated to the community. The rest of the float will continue to be made of chicken wire and napkins. Floats will be showcased during the parade on Friday, and the winning float will be announced during halftime of the football game.
Adrian Student Council has been busy planning many Homecoming events. This year’s theme is Candyland. Monday is “Tacky Tourist Day” and students will dress as tacky as they can. “Fictional Character Day” is on Tuesday, and students will dress like their favorite characters from movies and books. Wednesday is “Gender Switch Day”. Boys will dress as girls, and girls will dress as boys. On Thursday, students will dress to match the Candyland theme. Friday will be Black and Gold Day, and students will show their Blackhawk pride from head to toe!
The float sites will be open after school starting Monday, October 3rd. On Friday morning, students will walk with their class to their float site to finish floats. Students will then return to school for lunch, the pep rally, and then the parade. Friday night at 7:00, our Adrian Blackhawks will take on the Osceola Indians! During the halftime show, the 2011 Homecoming King and Queen will be announced. Winners of the spirit stick and the winning float will also be announced. Right after the game, the homecoming dance will be held at the school in the commons area.
Adrian students are excited for Homecoming and can’t wait to show their Blackhawk Pride!
