Seven Blackhawks wrestled at the State Tournament last weekend. Congratulations to Brandt McMillan, Vince Romi, Nathan Chamberlain, Chase Reynolds, Luke Hough, Christian Graham and Bobby McCarl.

Three wrestlers placed at State this year: Seniors Luke Hough (145) and Bobby McCarl (119) took second place and freshman Christian Graham (285) took sixth. Graham’s success marks the first time in AHS history that a freshman has placed at State. “It was great to go down and make a little noise this year,” said Wrestling Head Coach Ryan Campbell.

About competing at State, Senior Bobby McCarl (right) said: “Wrestling in the state finals is an amazing experience. I’m proud of my finish and even though I didn’t win it all I have no regrets. Looking back I gave it all I had an feel that is all that matters.”

Making his first trip to State is freshman Christian Graham (middle). Christian said, “Hard work and dedicated times paid off. Thanks to everybody who supported Blackhawks wrestling this season.”

Far right, Luke Hough, senior, said: “Being a state finalist is what I had been training for all year, even though coming short I’m happy with my second place finish. A special thanks goes to the wrestling family and fans for all the support this year. ‘La famiglia.’ Familgia meaning family and it was our team saying.”
