Six Adrian 8th and 9th graders participated in the Oratorical Contest hosted by the Adrian Optimist Club. With assistance from Adrian English Teacher Dorothy Powell, each participant wrote a speech using this year’s theme: “How My Passions Impact the World.” Last Sunday, February 2, 2014, family and friends gathered at the Adrian Optimist Club to listen to the speeches.

One boy and one girl were named winners by a panel of three judges. This year’s Oratorical Contest winners are freshmen Zacheria Hall and Maddie Moore (pictured right). The pair of winners advance to the Zone level in Clinton to compete against winners from other schools. The runners up, who will compete in Clinton in the event that the winners cannot, are Morgan Patterson and Ashlee Burris.
