Adrian R-III School stands strong in academics

R-III ranks 17th in the State for the 2010 Missouri Assessment Program
Under the “No Child Left Behind” federal act, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires that all school districts administer the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP). Students in grades 3-8 take MAP tests and high school students take End-of-Course Tests. These test results are the most important part of the Adrian R-III School District’s grade card with DESE. In Communication Arts, all grade levels scored High 1, which is the highest of five possible levels and above state averages. All grade levels were High 1 or High 2 in Math. Adrian students continue to do very well and improve each year on the state assessments.
The website Schooldigger.com provides student achievement information and assessment data on individual schools and school districts and ranks districts and schools according to this data. This year, the R-III District ranked an impressive 17th out of the 476 districts that were ranked. A few other statistics for Adrian are: third grade ranked 20th of 1092 elementary schools in Communication Arts and 56th in Math; sixth grade was 46th of 758 schools in Math; the high school ranked 22nd overall of 532 high schools in the State. The highest ranking was English I for high school students on end-of-course-testing, with Adrian being 7th of 414 schools. English 2 was 34th of 532 schools on end-of-course testing in the high school. Superintendent, Dr. Kirk Eidson commented, “These exceptional test scores are the result of excellent students, teachers, administrators, supportive parents and an outstanding school board. As impressive as these scores are, we expect to do even better next year. Even though we are performing above state averages, we do have many students who are not proficient in Math or Communication Arts. It is our mission for all students to perform at high levels on challenging learning objectives and to be proficient in all tested areas. Our goal, as always, is to continue to improve each year.”
