Adrian R-III presents..."The Lion King"

By MICHELE BURRIS
Last weekend, Adrian students and staff presented the musical production “The Lion King.” A large crowd gathered on both Friday night and Sunday afternoon to watch the play.
Under the direction of Allison Oates, Linda Zellmer and Sheila Adkins, 97 students enjoyed the camaraderie during play practices, rehearsal and the performance, and they learned a new sense of Blackhawk Pride. “Allison and Linda worked so, so, so hard. They gave up much of their time and life. This production adds so much to the school. The kids worked very hard, paid attention, and didn’t give us any problems. They had an amazing energy because Allison is so enthusiastic,” said Sheila Adkins, Assistant to the Directors.
“As always, the students exceeded my expectations. I am busting with pride. I love my students, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the families. They are great. Thank you to my family, my students and their families, and the moms who made costumes. I am glad Adrian is embracing this production. Beginning next year I will be teaching Acting I, II, III and IV and Theatre Tech,” said Allison Oates, Director. Her mother and co-director Linda Zellmer added, “Adrian kids are the best kids in the world. I have loved every minute of The Lion King.”
Right: Adult Simba (Justin McDonald) and Adult Nala (Jordan Loughridge) present their lion cub, Kiera (Aubrie Oates), on Pride Rock with Rafiki (Lydia Reynolds).
