And the next 40 years in the kid business begins...

Fun and games. Student recognition. Enrichment for youth. Dedication to the community. Impacting lives. These, and many more, describe the Adrian Optimist Club. In recognition of the organizations accomplishments and achievements, the 40th Annual Installation of Officers and Awards Banquet was held last Saturday.

Everyone at the banquet was welcomed by Club President Jim Binkley, followed by an invocation offered by Randy Hargas and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Don Durbin. A tasty steak dinner was prepared by Butt Head Bar-B-Q and the Beta Sigma Phi-Xi lota Chapter. The meal was served by the sorority and members of the Adrian FCCLA.

Deserving members were presented with pins and plaques during the awards portion of the program (see back page for more pictures). President Binkley, assisted by Cary Six and Brad Ferguson, presented perfect attendance pins, from one year to 40. Charter members Don Durbin and Pat Oates received a standing ovation as they were presented with perfect attendance pins since the club’s inception 40 years ago. When President Binkley announced Larry Bunch as the Adrian Optimist of the Year, the crowd rose again. Charles Maloney was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, and Brian Duckworth was named as the Rookie of the Year. President Binkley offered appreciation to Stephen Burns by presenting him with the President’s Citation. President-Elect Brad Jennings thanked Binkley for his commitment to the organization, and presented him with a plaque of recognition.
