Adrian firefighters teach kids about fire safety

By SHARON KIESEL
The Adrian Volunteer Fire Department participated in and hosted a couple of training sessions this past week in Adrian. The fire crew also visited schools and day care centers in conjunction with Fire Safety Week. On October 8, the fire team was at the Adrian School to present fire safety information. They are expected to be at the Ballard School on October 15 to visit with the students.
This past week, courtesy of Gene Irvin, the Adrian Fire Department was allowed to use the old Christian Church building for a training site. There were two training sessions held with similar scenarios. On Friday and Saturday, October 9 and 10, the Adrian Fire Department hosted a Vehicle Rescue Technician class at the Adrian Fire station. Several departments came to Adrian to participate in the class. Adrian firefighters will participate in a driver training class in Rich Hill this weekend. The training is for driving firefighter apparatus.
