The Adrian Fire Department put in a lot of hours again this Labor Day weekend collecting donations for the Annual Boot Block for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Many Adrian residents made contributions to the worthy cause. “Adrian’s check was for $3,287 and was presented during the Kansas City part of the MDA Telethon on Monday, September 7,” Adrian Fire Chief Gary Dizney shared. Pictured above are four of the Adrian firefighters who volunteered their time to raise MDA dollars. Left to right: Jerry Bearce, Jeremy Bridges, Joey Patterson and Michael Nelson.

Chief Dizney reminds everyone of the 9/11 processional and ceremony to be held this Friday, September 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The parade of emergency vehicles and military, fire, police and emergency personnel will be on Main Street (the same route as the July 4th parade) about 6:40 p.m. and will travel east, then south on Old 71 Highway.

The commemorative ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Adrian Optimist Building at Old 71 Highway and Co-op Road.
