Adrian Elementary joined the Missouri Department of Education in a relief effort for children in Haiti.  “Kits for Kids” is a statewide project for Missouri school children in which Adrian students and staff assembled hygiene kits for children in Haiti. Brian Borgmeyer, Elementary Principal, learned of this project just one week before the kits had to be turned in.

Mr. Borgmeyer took on this charitable endeavor, and asked for donations from students and staff. In true Blackhawk style, everyone stepped up to the plate and donated 102 kits for Haitian children in just a few days. “I thought this would be a good activity for the students to give to people in time of need. I am impressed with the number of kids who took the time to put kits together. I hope they understand how much their efforts are going to help the children of Haiti,” Mr. Borgmeyer expressed. Many kits included personalized letters of encouragement, or drawings of hope and happiness.
