The City of Adrian’s goal each month for the recycling program is 4,000 pounds. In November, 5,127 pounds was collected. Types of items that can be recycled are: clothing/shoes, cardboard, mixed paper, magazines, newspaper, aluminum, mixed plastic and glass.
Prior to the Council meeting, a public hearing took place to discuss the City of Adrian sewer lines to the lagoon. Ferguson stated that engineers suggested that the City gradually raise sewer rates to pay for future improvements rather than hit citizens with larger lump sums when the need arises. The extra money collected would be invested for future sewer lines repairs and lift stations. Ferguson motioned to raise the sewer rates 50¢ per 1,000 gallons of water. The current rate of $3.50 per 1,000 gallons of water used will be raised to $4.00. The increase will go into effect after the first of the year. Hess seconded. Corum voted no, Miller abstained. Motion approved.
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of the new interchange/overpass at AA and E Highways is Monday, December 19th at 10:00am.
