Adrian Chamber of Commerce features Adrian United Methodist Church as the May Business of the Month

The Adrian Chamber of Commerce has chosen the Adrian United Methodist Church as the featured business/organization for the month of May. The church, located at 202 East Main Street, was founded in 1881 and although the original wooded structure has been long gone, the church has always been at the same location of Main and Kentucky Streets. Currently there are about 106 regular attendees each week although as with most churches, the regular membership roll numbers are larger.

The current Pastor is Chris Snyder, who has been there four years. He serves full-time and relies on a staff of volunteers who help in all areas of the ministry. The church mission statement is that, “the church exists to draw people into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.” Snyder said. “We view all we have as a tool for the community. We host lots of community events,” Pastor Snyder said. “Things such as weddings, graduation parties, reunions, funerals, scouts, public meetings and the like, and we don’t charge for the use of the building but accept donations.

Snyder said the church has Sunday school classes for all ages. They are held each Sunday from 9:45 to 10.30 a.m. There are various on-going Bible study classes and Youth groups as well as several active service, study and social groups. Vacation Bible School (evenings) kicks off on July 20th at Frontier Village. The VBS session which is themed ‘Workshop of Wonders’ is open to all children from three years to fifth grade. Older kids are recruited as helpers during the VBS time.

“We enjoy being a part of the Chamber and helping to promote local businesses,” Snyder said. “We also have a lot of church members who are part of the Chamber. We here at Adrian United Methodist Church love to give back and to serve the community.”
