4th of July Celebration slated for this Saturday
The annual Independence Day celebration, sponsored by the Adrian Optimist Club, is this Saturday, June 30 and the day promises to be filled with plenty of red, white and blue activities for everyone.
The day begins with the Main Street parade at 10:30 a.m. and ends with the big fireworks display at dusk. In between, there are lots of fun things to do. This year’s Grand Marshal is long time Adrian resident, John Petty. The Optimist Club member is also active in the VFW and the Crescent Hill Masonic Lodge, Meals on Wheels and as a city volunteer taxi driver. He is being recognized for his many years of selfless service to the Adrian community.
Out at the City Park on Saturday, the day is full of fun activities and games for kids and adults. Beginning with a pork chop dinner, the activities range from ball games, to the Volunteer Fire Department’s Display of fire equipment, the safety trailer on loan from the Ft. Osage Fire Department and the arrival of not one, but two air ambulances. One is scheduled to arrive at 1 p.m., the other at 3 p.m. With kids games and much more, the afternoon won’t be boring for anyone of any age.
The Sixth Annual MSTPA truck and tractor pull begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12.
Plan for a day of fun as we celebrate the 231st anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and our country’s birthday.
