At the State Tournament in Columbia last weekend, seven Adrian wrestlers competed for the state title. The wrestling team took 9th overall with a total score of 63.00. “It was great to crack the top 10, but we aren’t going to celebrate it for very long. The boys already know that next season has already begun and preparation starts now,” said Head Wrestling Coach Ryan Campbell.

Nathan Chamberlain (152) and Vince Romi (189) competed in two rounds, Chase Reynolds (103) in three and Brandt McMillan (112) in four. Christian Graham (285) finished sixth, marking a first in school history for a freshman to place at State. “Placing at any weight, much less heavyweight as a freshman, is a tremendous feat,” said Coach Campbell. Two Blackhawks, seniors Luke Hough (145) and Bobby McCarl (119), finished in the finals. Coach Campbell said, “Bobby and Luke had great tournaments and I am so happy for them. They deserve it and they earned it.”

With this season coming to a close, Coach Campbell said, “Our guys are hungry and I look for lots of hard work over the spring and summer and much success next season.”
